“The sweetest, most perfect gift from God!! We are so unbelievably blessed to be your parents.”
A Florida mom is going viral after giving birth to a “little celebrity” — who turned out to be not so little.
Daniella Hines, a 40-year-old mom of two, gave birth to her second baby boy Annan on Sept. 3 at BayCare's St. Joseph's Hospital South in Riverview — located about 20 miles south of Tampa.
At his time of birth, Annan already weighed 13 pounds and 15 ounces.
For reference, the average birth weight of a full-term male baby is 7 pounds, 6 ounces, according to Medical News Today — meaning baby Annan was nearly twice the size of most newborn baby boys.
Hines described her baby boy as “the talk of the maternity ward” in an interview with “Today,” published Sept. 10.
“He was so big. I was like, ‘Whose baby is this? He came out of me?'" she said in the interview.
“Then everybody starts coming in because it’s not every day you see an almost 14 pound baby pop out. He was like a little celebrity,” she added.
According to a Sept. 4 Facebook post shared by St. Joseph’s Hospital-South, baby Annan is believed to be the biggest baby ever born at the hospital.
“I remember thinking, ‘What are they pulling out of me?’ What is going on here?’ I felt so much pressure,” Hines told “Today” of the baby boy’s arrival.

Despite how big her baby was, Hines revealed that his size was somewhat expected.
Not only did her first baby — a boy named Andre Jr. — tip the scales at 12 pounds, 11 ounces, but Hines was diagnosed with gestational diabetes during her pregnancy with Annan.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, gestational diabetes “is a type of diabetes that develops exclusively in pregnancy when blood sugar levels get too high.”
One of the primary effects of gestational diabetes is fetal macrosomia (increased birth weight).
Because of baby Annan’s size, Hines had to undergo a C-section — which is one of the most common complications of gestational diabetes, per the Cleveland Clinic.
“We didn’t expect such a big blessing,” Hines said in her interview. “But it’s just more to love!”
According to the Guinness World Records, a giantess named Anna Bates (née Swan) gave birth to the largest baby ever born in 1879. Her baby weighed 22 pounds at the time of his birth.

Referred to as “Babe,” he was also the longest baby ever recorded at 28 inches, though he sadly died 11 hours later.
