“Welcome to the world our sweet baby Faith. It’s our greatest honor getting to love you, you heaven-sent girlie.”
A Mississippi mom is going viral after taking the meaning of “fate” to a whole new level.
On Aug. 28, Kourtney Brown joined a coveted list of parents who share a birthday with their child after giving birth to her newborn daughter Ruby Ann Nye on her own birthday.
But the coincidence didn’t end there.
Dr. Kenyetta Brummitt, the board-certified OB/GYN who delivered Brown’s baby, was also born on Aug. 28 — meaning she not only shares a birthday with her patient, but also her patient’s newborn.
The triple birthday surprise occurred at Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven, MS.
“August 28 was a special day full of joy and birthdays at Baptist DeSoto. Kourtney and Dr. Brummitt will always remember this heartwarming experience,” the hospital wrote in a Facebook post.
The hospital described it as a “rare and special coincidence” in a separate Facebook post.
“What are the odds to have an amazing mom and her incredible doctor who delivered Ruby Ann to all celebrate birthdays today!” the hospital added.

Brown shared similar sentiments in an interview with Action News 5, published Sept. 18.
“To have the same birthday as Ruby, and then you know, Dr. Brummitt also being a part of that is super special,” she told the outlet.
“It’s a gift for me to get to celebrate her, and that was something that I thought was like it’s a no-brainer to share a birthday with her because that’s my gift every year for the rest of my life,” she added.
According to Action News 5, the OR staff sang “Happy Birthday” to the trio upon Ruby’s birth.
Dr. Brummitt, who works at BMG-Women’s Consultants in Southaven, was asked why she decided not to work on her birthday.
“Why not? This is a gift,” she said, per Action News 5. “I had a gift to give life and to have life.”
“So, it was just a really wonderful day, and I actually posted on social media,” she continued. “There was so much love on this day, instead of gifts, I had the gift of love, so it was just a great day.”
Considering there are 365 days in a year, moms have a 0.27% chance of sharing a birthday with their child — but adding in the delivery doctor to that equation makes it nearly impossible.

But, as Brown and Dr. Brummitt proved on Aug. 28, nearly impossible is still possible.
