“This isn’t the Oscars, honey! We’re not changing for the after party!”
Jon Bon Jovi is a proud and loving grandfather — and is about to welcome a second.
The 63-year-old rockstar and founder of the hard-rock band Bon Jovi became a first-time grandpa earlier this year when his son Jake Bongiovi and his wife, Millie Bobby Brown, adopted their first child.
The couple nearly broke the internet when they announced the news in an Aug. 21 Instagram post.
“This summer, we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption,” the couple wrote in the post. “We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy.”

In an interview with Savannah Guthrie, published on Oct. 23, Bon Jovi opened up about his new role and revealed the grandpa name he prefers to go by — one that Millie Bobby Brown’s fans might recognize.
"Immediately you fall in love," Bon Jovi said of his granddaughter, whose name hasn’t been revealed.
"You know, when we met Jake and Millie’s daughter, it was just immediate. You’re like, 'That’s my granddaughter,'" he continued.
Bon Jovi went on to joke that his little granddaughter “won’t be able to walk for at least 10 or 12 years because Papa will be carrying her everywhere she goes.”

Papa also happens to be the name Millie Bobby Brown’s character in “Stranger Things” calls Dr. Martin Brenner, the head scientist of Hawkins Laboratory in the show.
Other popular grandpa names in the United States include Grampy, Gramps, Pa, Paw, PawPaw, Pop, PopPop, Abuello and Grandaddy, according to Chicco.
Elsewhere in the interview, Bon Jovi joked that he looks forward to seeing his granddaughter at one of his concerts when he and his band kick off their “Forever” tour in 2026.
Jon Bon Jovi opens up about his admiration for Millie Bobby Brown
This isn’t the first time Jon Bon Jovi opened up about being a first-time grandfather.
The “Livin’ On a Prayer” singer appeared on the Sept. 23 episode of Bunnie XO’s “Dumb Blonde” podcast when he was asked about his relationship with his daughter-in-law and life as a grandpa.
“She’s a sweetheart and she’s a hard worker,” he said of Brown. “I tell her all the time how much I admire her because her work ethic is unbelievable.”

Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi sparked dating rumors in June 2021 and went Instagram official later that year, according to People. Brown was 17 at the time, while Jon Bon Jovi’s son was 19.
The couple got engaged in May 2023 and tied the knot one year later.
“They got married very young, but we blessed it because we get it,” Bon Jovi said of their relationship on the “Dumb Blonde” podcast. “They’re sort of mature beyond their years.”
After one year of marriage, Brown and Bongiovi welcomed their “beautiful” baby girl via adoption.
“Crazy, but great,” Bon Jovi told Bunnie XO of life as a grandfather. “Wonderful.”
“It’s beautiful,” he continued. “I want to see pictures like every other day. I’m that pain in the butt guy already.”
Bon Jovi went on to reveal that one of his other sons, Jesse Bongiovi, is also expecting his first child with his wife — which will make him a grandfather of two.
“So, suddenly it’s a shift again,” Bon Jovi said of the news.
