Most of the world knows Jason Kelce for his career as a former center for the Philadelphia Eagles football team.
Craig Melvin’s earring is catching plenty of attention online recently.
The 46-year-old “Today” show co-anchor was interviewing “Freakier Friday” actress Jamie Lee Curtis on Dec. 2 when she turned the tables and asked him to tell her the story behind the “blue dot” in his ear.
His explanation was enough to melt Curtis’ heart — and fans responded similarly online.
“My daughter, years ago, she went to go get her ears pierced and she got cold feet. And in a moment of haste, I was like, ‘If I do it, will you do it?’ And she’s like, ‘Yes!’” Craig told the actress.

“Oh, come on!” Curtis responded. “That’s gorgeous!”
Melvin shares two kids — son Delano Joseph, 11, and daughter Sybil Ann, 9 — with his wife and fellow broadcaster Lindsay Czarniak, whom he has been married to since 2011, according to People.
Later in his interview with Curtis, Melvin played a video of fitness guru Susan Powter thanking Curtis for her dedication to giving back to her community.
Curtis wasted no time in shifting the attention back to Melvin’s thoughtful gesture to his daughter.
“It’s why we’re here,” she told Melvin. “It’s why you love what you do. It’s why you said to your daughter, ‘You know what, if I get it, will you get it?’ And you did.”
Curtis went on to describe it as a “beautiful thing” that he has kept the earring after all this time.
“I’m glad that you were able to say, ‘This is important to me. This is my daughter, my connection to my daughter,’” she added.

This past November marked the fourth anniversary of Melvin getting an earring.
Craig Melvin’s wife was the first to announce the news, taking to Instagram on Nov. 2, 2021 to share that they took their daughter to get her ears pierced for her fifth birthday.
“It turned into a family affair. More to share but super impressed with my family’s spontaneity. And by that I mean the men in our life,” Czarniak wrote in the caption at the time.

The following day, Melvin showed up to the “Today” show with some new bling — and expanded on the story.
Despite not being an “earring guy,” Melvin told his co-hosts that “Daddy took one for the team” when his daughter got nervous and asked if he would get his ear pierced first.
“All of my family and friends who've known me for a long time are flat-out stunned about the piercing,” he added, according to TODAY.com. “I'm not the piercing kind of guy.”
He went on to explain that it wasn’t just him who supported his daughter. His then-7-year-old son also got an ear pierced — and his wife added two piercing to her ears, too.
As for Craig Melvin’s daughter, she opted for tiny Hello Kitty-themed studs.
“I'll keep it long enough to appease her, likely until I have to get a puppy or something,” he said, per TODAY.com.
That puppy eventually came — with the family welcoming an Irish doodle puppy named Myles Copper Melvin into the family on Dec. 30, 2023.

Despite the puppy, Melvin’s earring hasn’t gone anywhere and he has yet to share plans of shedding it anytime soon.
