Imagine being able to try on a dress your mom wore at the Oscars ceremony 10 – even 20 — years ago.
Well, that’s the type of life Gwyneth Paltrow’s daughter Apple Martin is living today.
In a joint interview with “Vogue,” published Sept. 30, the mother-daughter duo opened up about their similar fashion styles — and why some of the outfits Martin wears might look familiar to Paltrow fans.
"She’s such a badass when it comes to fashion and has just done what she wants and doesn’t really care,” Martin said of her mom’s fashion sense.
“I feel like I’m finally getting to the place where I don’t really care what people think. She influenced me,” she added.
Paltrow went on to admit that they often “play dress up” in her closet — which is filled with some of the iconic dresses she has worn throughout her career.
“She’ll put on my Oscar dresses and stuff like that. We have fun down there,” Paltrow said — further clarifying that she “started saving clothes for Apple about 15, 20 years before she was born.”

“I don’t just see a top, I’ll see a moment in my life and all the circumstances surrounding it. I’ve always saved everything in hopes that I had a daughter one day who would want to go in there,” she added.
But while the dresses are iconic, Martin seems to be more attached to her stylish mom’s shoe collection.
“Her shoes are ridiculous except sometimes they don’t fit,” Martin said before admitting that she’d “take all of them” if they were the right size.

Paltrow shares two kids — daughter Apple, 21, and son Moses, 19 — with her ex-husband Chris Martin.
The former couple tied the knot in 2003 and started building a family in 2004 before announcing their split in 2014 and officially divorcing in 2016, according to People.
Now nearly 10 years later, Paltrow and her daughter are teaming up for their first fashion campaign.

The mother-daughter duo are featured in a new GapStudio campaign for the brand's Fall/Winter 2025 collection, which Gap describes as “the next chapter” in its iconic legacy.
In their joint interview with “Vogue,” Paltrow detailed the one piece of advice she had for Apple.
“The best advice would just be to unabashedly be herself," she told the outlet.
"I've just watched her style develop and evolve, she's got a very strong sense of personal style. She knows how much I love her for exactly who she is,” she added.
During a 2020 appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” Chris Martin opened up about a time when he accidentally embarrassed his daughter at her first job.
“My daughter works in a clothing store. It’s her first job, and she’s about to be 16 and I’m so proud of her,” he explained. “She’s, you know, making her way in the world.”
As any parent would do, Martin decided to buy something so his daughter would ring him up, but it quickly backfired.
“She was at the checkout — and there were two checkouts — that’s what you call them right? — and she saw me,” he said, adding that she jokingly told him to “Get out.”

“And I felt terrible, so I moved to the other line,” Martin continued. “I was holding my T-shirt and really scared of my daughter.”
