“Our days are filled with lots of cuddles and laughter and love. It’s just endless joy.”
Nick Lachey is sharing his best parenting advice as a dad of three.
The 51-year-old former lead singer of 98 Degrees opened up about his life at home with wife and “NCIS: Hawaiʻi” actress Vanessa Lachey in an interview with People, published Aug. 28.
And he said parenting their three little ones boils down to consistency and balance.

"Dad's probably a little more stern when it comes to discipline, but Mom is as well when she has to be. I think we do flip-flop on that regard," he explained of the couple’s parenting style.
"It's important to be united. You never want your kids to be mad at one parent and then find reprieve with the other. You've got to be on the same page as parents and be consistent,” he added.
Lachey went on to say that “consistency” is one of the things kids crave most.
"As long as you are consistent and you're on the same page, you're going to be all right,” he added.
Nick and Vanessa Lachey share three children — Camden John, 12, Brooklyn Elisabeth, 10, and Phoenix Robert, 8 — from their 14-year marriage, according to Parade.
Nick Lachey’s comments come more than one year after his wife shared the one parenting rule they swear by.
"The one thing that we've always agreed on is that we will always, always let our children know how much we love them," Vanessa Lachey told People in March 2024.
She went on to clarify that she “didn't have that constant affirmation” when she was growing up.
“I don't think that we've ever talked about, 'This is what we have to do,' but between the two of us, we know our kids need to always know they're loved, especially after a disciplinary moment,” she added.
Nick Lachey also dished on his best relationship advice
Nick and Vanessa Lachey first met in the early 2000s on the set of MTV's “Total Request Live,” according to People. Vanessa was one of the show’s hosts, while Nick made regular appearances with his band.
The couple started dating in 2006 after Nick Lachey separated from his first wife Jessica Simpson.
Despite a brief split in 2009, the “Love Is Blind” hosts rekindled their relationship, got engaged in 2010 and tied the knot the following year before starting a family in 2012.
While consistency is his key to being a dad, Nick Lachey said that “compromise” is what’s most important as a husband.
“That's what we always say. When people talk to us and we're hosting these shows, you've got to meet in the middle. It's all a compromise,” he told People in his new interview.
While he admits to not always seeing eye to eye with his wife, Nick Lachey said marriage is a “give and take” kind of dance.
"It's when one side is constantly compromising and the other never seems to that you get into trouble,” he explained to the outlet. “And, thankfully we don't have that problem too often."
On July 15, Nick Lachey took to Instagram to celebrate 14 years of marriage with Vanessa.
“On that day, we started a journey that has brought us three amazing children and the family I always dreamed of,” he wrote in the caption.
“V, there is nothing we can’t accomplish together and I can’t wait to see where we go next,” he added.
Nick Lachey’s wife also celebrated the moment in a post of her own — adding that they’ve been together for a total of 19 years in the caption.
