Dave Coulier was diagnosed with tongue cancer one year after his initial diagnosis with lymphoma.
The 66-year-old actor, best known for his role as Joey Gladstone on “Full House,” was diagnosed with HPV-related oropharyngeal tongue cancer in October, according to TODAY.com.
The new cancer diagnosis comes seven months after revealing that he was cancer-free after treating his Stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma — which he was diagnosed with in November 2024.

“A year has flown by like that. It’s been a roller coaster,” he told TODAY in an interview, published Dec. 2.
“To go through chemotherapy and feel that relief of whoah, it’s gone, and then to get a test that says, well now you’ve got another kind of cancer ... it is a shock to the system,” Coulier added.
Coulier described the past year as a “tough” one — and described chemotherapy as “grueling” — but his newest diagnosis, which requires radiation therapy, is ”a whole different animal.”
“It doesn’t feel as aggressive, but there are still side effects," he said of treatment, which involves 35 rounds of radiation. His final round is currently scheduled for Dec. 31.
"My joke usually is ... I’m doing really well for a guy with cancer,” he told TODAY. “I get to start the new year saying, I finished radiation yesterday! It's kind of serendipitous.”
Despite the new diagnosis, Coulier says he still has a lot to look forward to — especially with a new baby in the family.
The “Muppet Babies” star became a first-time grandfather in March when his son Luc welcomed his first baby — a son named Chance Lee — with his wife Alex.
“This little baby in our life, Chance, he's the happiest kid. It's fantastic,” Coulier told TODAY.
Dave Coulier says his tongue cancer isn’t related to his lymphoma
Coulier went on to credit his lymphoma for helping him discover the tongue cancer, but confirmed that the two cancers aren’t related.
The discovery came during a follow-up PET scan, where doctors noticed a growth on his tongue. While the initial biopsy came back negative, an October follow-up confirmed the presence of cancer cells.
He was eventually diagnosed with early stage, P16-positive oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma.
“They said it’s totally unrelated to my non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. This is a new cancer. ... I said, 'Are you kidding me?'" Coulier told TODAY.
Coulier clarified that he was given a good prognosis with a 90% curability rate, but he remains “cautiously optimistic.”
“The silver lining here is that I had cancer, which helped me detect my other cancer. It seems crazy to be making that statement, but it’s true,” he told the outlet.
