Pregnant newscaster puts her co-anchor, meteorologist to the test in diaper-changing competition

Ryan Brennan | September 16, 2025

These two newscasters are teaching new parents what not to do when learning how to change a diaper.

On Sept. 12, pregnant news anchor Laura Monteverdi of KARK 4 — a local news outlet in the Central Arkansas area — put her co-anchor and meteorologist to the test with a hilarious diaper challenge.

The challenge was simple, to see how quick her colleagues could change a diaper.

Unfortunately, the execution didn’t live up to Monteverdi’s standards.

The diaper-changing challenge began with a twist. Instead of using newborn baby dolls, Monteverdi resorted to using stuffed yaks because she “couldn’t find baby dolls.”

“You each have a yak with a diaper on it and you have the clean diaper,” Monteverdi said in a clip shared by KARK. “So, we’re going to put 20 seconds on the clock here.”

“Take the diaper off, put the new diaper on,” she added. “Whoever wins gets a yak.”

Within seconds of the timer starting, it was clear that co-anchor Bob Clausen and meteorologist Todd Yakoubian — both of whom are fathers, per KARK — haven’t changed a diaper in quite some time.

“Come on, shh,” Yakoubian says as the clock winds down. “It’s okay, you’re good.”

Yakoubian and Clausen finished in the allotted time, but were both criticized by Monteverdi for how tight the diapers were — and Clausen somehow managed to get his yak’s arm stuck in the diaper.

Monteverdi later disqualified Clausen for the arm mishap — but later realized that Yakoubian did the same thing.

“Yeah, you guys are not changing my baby’s diapers after this,” Monteverdi concluded.

When asked if they had any memories of changing their children’s real-life diapers, Clausen jokingly clarified that he never got one of his son’s arms stuck.

The two colleagues also failed to realize that the dirty diapers had some fake poop smears in them.

KARK’s diaper challenge ends with some valuable parenting advice

Despite the disappointing ending, Clausen shared some of his best advice for new parents learning how to change a diaper for the first time.

“I remember (being) so terrified of this task, thinking ‘Oh my god, it’s going to be the worst thing in the world,” he recalled. “And it never was. It never really was.”

Yakoubian was quick to agree.

“It’s a part of life and you’re going to sit there and you’re going to do this and you’re going to say, ‘I can’t wait for these days to be over,’” he added.

“They’re going to be over and you’re going to wish you had them back,” he continued.

They also shared some other advice with Monteverdi, to make sure she changes the diaper pail often.

The hilarious diaper change challenge came amid the news team’s “Countdown to Baby” segment in honor of Monteverdi’s pregnancy.

The news anchor announced in May that she and her husband, Madison, were expecting their first child in October.

According to KARK, the soon-to-be first-time parents are waiting until birth to find out the baby’s gender.
